Miguel Flores has given fight fans in Texas more than a glimpse of his impressive skills, as all but two of the Houston resident’s 20 fights have taken place in his home state. Now the unbeaten 126-pound contender is ready to share his talents with the East Coast.

Fighting for the third time this year and the seventh time in 15 months, Miguel Flores (20-0, 9 KOs) will face his most accomplished opponent to date August 12 when he battles fellow contender Ryan Kielczweski (25-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-round bout from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.
The ESPN-televised card (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) also features a 147-pound showdown between unbeaten Bryant Perrella (14-0, 13 KOs) of Fort Myers, Florida, and 2008 Cuban Olympic bronze medalist Yodenis Ugas (15-3, 7 KOs) in another 10-round contest.
“Fighting on ESPN is incredible, because you know that fans from all around the world will be tuning in,” said Flores, whose only two fights outside of Texas were in Texarkana, Arkansas, in September 2009, and Shelton, Washington, in December 2014. “My opponent is a very skilled fighter, so I’ll be at my best when we step in the ring.
“Expect me to go to war and bring a lot of action to those who will be watching.”
Flores, who turned 24 on July 17, already owns two lopsided victories this year, earning 10-round unanimous decisions over Mario Briones on January 12 and Ruben Tamayo on May 28, with both fights taking place in San Antonio.
Flores has now won 19 of his 20 fights by either stoppage or unanimous decision since turning pro as a 17-year-old in August 2009. The only close call for the Mexican-born fighter was a majority decision over veteran Jose Luis Araiza in December 2014.
In Kielczweski, Flores will be facing a 26-year-old from Quincy, Massachusetts, who began his career 22-0 before dropping a split decision to Danny Aquino in April 2015. Kielczweski has since bounced back with a trio of victories, the most recent being an eight-round shutout of Mario Macias Rorozco on April 16.
“It’s always exciting to be fighting on ESPN, especially in the main event,” said Kielczweski, who, like Flores, stands 5-foot-8. “Training is going well, and I’ve been traveling around to get great sparring.
“I don’t know much about Flores other than he’s undefeated for a reason. If I perform on August 12, hopefully something big will come next that leads me toward a title. It’s going to be an exciting night and an electric fight.”
